Isabella “Bella” Khair Hadid (/həˈdiːd/) is an American fashion model, signed to IMG Models in 2014. Hadid lives in New York City. In June 2016, Hadid was ranked one of the Top 50 models by Models.com.
Bella Hadid was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of television personality and former ’80s Dutch model Yolanda Hadid (née Van den Herik) and multi-millionaire real-estate developer Mohamed Hadid, through whom she claims descent from Daher Al Omer, Prince of Nazareth and the Sheik of Galilee. She is of Palestinian and Dutch descent. Hadid has one older sister, model Gigi Hadid, and a younger brother, Anwar Hadid. She has two older half-sisters, Marielle and Alana, on her father’s side and five stepsisters from her stepfather, David Foster.
Hadid and her siblings were originally raised on a ranch in Santa Barbara and then moved out to Malibu while she was still in elementary school. In 2012, her mother became a star on the reality show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but kept Hadid and the rest of her children off camera as much as possible.
As a teenager, Hadid was an equestrian player and originally had dreams to attend the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro but was unable to train and compete due to her suffering from Lyme disease. It was announced that she suffered from Lyme in October 2015. She and both her mother and little brother, Anwar, were all diagnosed with the disease in 2012.
In Fall of 2014, Hadid moved to New York City and began studying photography at the Parsons School of Design, signing to IMG shortly after. She has since dropped out of school due to the success of her modeling career. She has expressed interest in wanting to go back to school and take on Fashion Photography as a career once she is done modeling. Hadid has also expressed interest in writing and acting once she is done with her modeling, as well.
